“Over the Flare”: Staying Silent on $30,800,000 News, Stephen Curry Solves Greece’s Week-Long “Problem”

Stephen Curry is a basketball genius. While his all-time great shooting and insane dribbling skills grab the front page, he is a basketball savant. Because of the flashier aspects of his game, his IQ isn’t as appreciated. While the Golden State Warriors face major turmoil, Curry hopped onto Instagram to showcase his innate knowledge of the game. After a grueling season and a chaotic offseason thus far, the toll is heavy on Curry. But, if time has shown us anything, it’s to not count out Wardell Stephen Curry.

Especially, when he has a new elite teammate, whose IQ is just as high as Steph’s.

Stephen Curry breaks down a defensive mistake in seconds

The video has been around for a week now. A genius move from the offense had the defense stumped. And everyone had the same question. How do you even guard this? In the week or so since the video was first uploaded it has amassed around 10,000 likes. However, no one broke down the play as quickly as Steph.

The first action came when the shooter set a pindown screen for the big man to get open. However, upon realizing that a pick-and-roll wasn’t available with the ball-handler, he set an immediate half screen, called a flare, to get the shooter open. But the defender was quick to chase the shooter down, so he received a 3rd screen and the immediate pass.

As the defender chased the shooter down, it opened the big man. He had a wide-open lane to the basket and a quick pass led to the open dunk. The entire play had the world stunned. However, Steph immediately broke it down. Calling for the defender of the shooter (#18), he explained the defensive adjustment.

“#18 is the problem. Stay high over the flare. Hardest pass to make is the one over the top to the corner.” He further praised the play but also said that the adjustment was obvious, rendering the play useless after the first attempt.

Thankfully, Curry has his mind on the game, as he awaits the arrival of a new Point God to his team.

The chaos of the Warriors’ offseason
The Golden State Warriors had a disappointing end to their season in the second-round courtesy of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. After a championship season in 2022, the Warriors looked to repeat their success but ultimately, fell short.

The worst part? New GM, Mike Dunleavy Jr. promised to keep Poole on the team three days prior to the trade. Moreover, seconds after the trade Jordan Poole unfollowed Dray confirming the growing tension. What has been most glaring is Steph’s complete silence during the entire period.
