The actor’s new record may get an even bigger audience now that it’s not that difficult to find online.
Nearly six months after its initial theatrical release, Jason Statham ’s high-grossing action thriller The Beekeeper has finally landed on Prime Video, and fans are more than excited to check it out after having spent a long time reading all the raving reviews that the movie eventually got.
Released back in January, The Beekeeper was quick to get an official digital release and was dropped online around three weeks after its initial theatrical launch, yet the film made it to one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms only now.
Should I say the chances of seeing The Beekeeper climbing Prime Video’s top 10 chart are pretty high now?
Starring Jason Statham and The Hunger Games ’ star Josh Hutcherson in the leading roles, The Beekeeper follows Adam Clay, a beekeeper (obviously) whose serene and quiet life is suddenly disrupted when his kind-hearted and naive landlady commits suicide after being scammed and thus bankrupted.
It could’ve been a pretty good day for the scammers that got $2 million from a charity fund that the poor lady was running, but they have no clue that Adam Clay is none other than an agent of a classified program called Beekeepers which may promise a huge trouble for those responsible for the woman’s death.
Upon its release, The Beekeeper came not only as commercial and critical success, but also as Jason Statham’s personal big achievement in years.
The movie grossed $152 million against the initial budget of $40 million becoming a major box office hit, while also landing impressive scores of 71% and 92% from critics and viewers respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Beekeeper came as Statham’s highest-rated film since his 2015 action comedy Spy that ended up with 95% of critical acclaim.
