What happens when Santa Claus, the only guy responsible for delivering all Christmas gifts all over the world during the holiday season, gets abducted? That’s what Red One, Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming epic action comedy film, will try to solve.
A new trailer has been released already, showing protagonists Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, as well as supporting characters like J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus himself and Lucy Liu as Zoe.
The clip starts with Simmons playing a rather fit and active Santa. Admittedly, this is very far from the burly old figure kids have traditionally gotten used to. Johnson plays Callum Drift, the North Pole’s head of security. He will do the heavy lifting to save Christmas.
For the mission, Drift enlists the services of Evans’ character, Jack O’Malley. Initially, it looks like a good team-up. But the latter turns out to be the world’s most infamous bounty hunter. Their unlikely alliance will be crucial to make sure Christmas pushes through. In the process, they will meet out-of-this-world beings that they will have to defy in order for the holiday season to remain merry.
Red One will be shown in Philippine theaters starting November 13, 2024, making it a great pre-holiday treat for viewers. The film is directed by Chris Morgan, from a screenplay by Hiram Garcia. Aside from Johnson, Evans, Simmons, and Liu, the movie also features Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, and Bonnie Hunt.
