Dwayne Johnson went on a wrestling hiatus slightly after Roman Reigns following WrestleMania XL defeat. The WWE legend’s heel turn set in naturally during the ‘We Want Cody’ social media campaign launched by WWE fans and he left his story with the reigning Undisputed Champion on a cliffhanger. However, some fans believe that he will eventually be back for the Anoa’i throne as well. As of now, Roman Reigns would first have to put up with Solo Sikoa, as he has assumed control over The Bloodline. If he can gain it back from him, then Reigns may also need to look out for a family elder.
When The Rock returned to the promotion on Monday Night Raw Day 1 in 2024, he teased a match against the then-Tribal Chief. Fans were excited about the same until they got to know that he was planning on taking up Cody Rhodes‘ place on the event card. So, now that he has finished his story, several fans have been hyped up for the possibility of tribal combat again, which could potentially happen at WrestleMania 41.
Jim Ross spoke about the possibility during the Grilling JR Podcast and said, “There’s a chance it’s all up to the rock. It’s not up to anybody else. It’s up to him. And if he, you know, his schedule is so crazy and he can’t afford to get hurt, he’s going to lose millions of dollars.”
The former WWE employee thinks that Johnson is the only individual who can make this match happen. It’s not just because of the position that he has in TKO, but also because he gets to make the call whether he wants to risk his body and Hollywood career for this storyline. Moreover, he may have another high-profile match for which he would be required at WrestleMania in 2025.
Dwayne Johnson may be busy putting an old rival to rest
The Brahma Bull retired from WWE in 2004 only to come back in 2011 as a part time. He continued this consistency until 2013. This is when he had his final WrestleMania as a part-timer against John Cena. Since the 16-time WWE Champion has also announced his retirement at MITB in Toronto this year, it may be time for Johnson to return the favor. Cena also revealed that he will be on a farewell tour now since WrestleMania 41 will be his last event in WWE.
So, fans wish for his final match to be as electrifying as possible. Among the wide range of possibilities, we may see him wrestle against his old foe, The Rock. This would make the latter the “Final Boss” of John Cena’s story as well. Although there are many names worthy of attention and consideration while choosing The Cenation Leader’s last opponent, the TKO director is perfectly aligned with this story and it would also make a great ‘full circle’ moment.
