On and off the court, Serena Williams, 41, always gets the job done.
Earlier this month, the tennis superstar gave birth to her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, which she announced with a family photo on Instagram. Now, Williams is giving fans a view of Adira’s dreamy nursery, which was completed just a day before the newborn joined the world.
Williams teased the nursery tour on Instagram, where she posted a snippet from a video that was posted in full to her YouTube account. In her caption, the gold medalist explained the inspiration behind the space.
“I walked into @poppedoll @byselinabyfernando in the Netherlands and saw a baby bed that took my breath away,” Williams said. “I wanted to see if I could get something just like it, but in my own colors of course.”
The athlete continued: “Not knowing the gender, I wanted to do a neutral color, but not grey or yellow or brown. I wanted…something different. Red. They only had 6 weeks to make it …. And they delivered! I literally had Adira the next day! Thanks for making my nursery room dream come true.”
The full video, which you can watch above, gives a tour of the stunning nursery. The red-and-white-themed space includes floral decals on the walls, plush hot air balloons hanging from the ceiling and more. Meanwhile, we also get a cameo from Williams’s other daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., 5, in the clip.
Williams and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 40, have been married since November 2017. They welcomed Olympia in September of that same year.
The pair announced that they were expecting another kid at the Met Gala earlier this year. Prior to walking the red carpet (and flaunting her baby bump), Williams shared a post to Instagram that saw her and Ohanian posing together. However, the caption was what spilled the beans. “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” Williams cheekily wrote. Then, the tennis champ announced Adira’s arrival with a post on August 22—a slideshow offering followers their first glimpse of the newborn.
Whether it comes to fashion or conceptualizing spaces for her kids, Serena’s always got good taste.
