Steph Curry casually stepped into a 33-foot 3-pointer.
If things weren’t over before that shot with 4:43 left in the game, they sure were after it went down.
Curry scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors to a 129-107 win over the Utah Jazz Monday at the Delta Center.
This week could show what’s in store for the rest of the season for Utah. When it comes to postseason hopes, it may just be the biggest week of the year; all three games (two against the Warriors, and one against the LA Lakers) are against the teams directly ahead of Utah in the standings.
If the postseason is the goal — which it’s not, as general manager Justin Zanik explained Saturday — then the Jazz needed some wins.
Things didn’t start well in that regard.
The Warriors had seven players score in double figures, and 10 players played over 10 minutes. It’s a reminder of the kind of depth the Jazz had just last week — depth that has now been disseminated.
The Jazz traded three rotation players and might not have gotten one back in return (Otto Porter Jr.’s health is in question, and he hasn’t played consistently for two seasons). That impact was felt Monday.
Taylor Hendricks had a rough outing in his 19 minutes (0 points and 4 rebounds); Keyonte George, who was put back in the starting lineup, struggled to a 2-for-10 night; and Talen Horton-Tucker, back in the rotation following the trades, had 13 points but had some head-scratching miscues as well.
Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 22 points and Lauri Markkanen had 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting.
