With Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole set to make his return to Golden State on Friday night for the first time since being traded, Anthony Slater of The Athletic spoke to Poole, Steph Curry, Steve Kerr, and others for an article on several different topics.
Among the topics discussed was of course the incident between Poole and Draymond Green, which most people within the Warriors organization now realize could have been handled better. With the benefit of hindsight, Curry got honest about how the situation was handled, telling Slater the Warriors did the best they could.
“Unless you were in this building, you can always talk about what could’ve been punishment-wise,” Curry said. “But unless you were in here, having these conversations daily and everything that we tried to keep in the house that then got out, it made everything a lot more complicated. We obviously will be scrutinized for whatever happens. We did the best we could with a very hard situation. Between them two, that’s whatever it’s going to be between them two.”
Curry makes a strong point about the outside perception of the situation being different from the daily dialogue that was ongoing within the organization. That said, there seems to be an understanding across the board that the Warriors could have done a better job handling what was a very difficult situation.
