The Sacramento Kings head coach, Mike Brown, continues to get some notoriety around the NBA after his viral ejection and post-game presser following their OT loss vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
On Monday night, the Golden State Warriors faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies in what was eventually a 107-116 loss, dropping them to an 18-22 record on the season. The Warriors suffered from several issues on the night that led to the loss but had a notable issue when it came to fouling and allowing free shots at the charity stripe.
As a unit, the Warriors allowed 40 total free throws from the Grizzlies, a stark difference from their own 10. When an opposing team gets that many more opportunities at the line, it’s going to be hard to come out with a win for any team.
After the Warriors loss, Steph Curry spoke at the podium about the team allowing a staggering amount of free throws on the night, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:
“We gave up 40 free throws. I don’t want to be Mike Brown up here going through them all to see how legit they are, but in the middle of a game, you have to be able to control that end of the floor to give yourself a chance. Especially on the road, I don’t care who you’re playing.”
After Coach Brown’s heated exchange with a referee on Sunday night, he spent a lengthy time at the podium, laptop by his side, hilariously reviewing the controversial calls with the press as if it were a film session with the team. It seems as if Curry shares a similar sentiment to some of the fouls in their respective game, but not enough to bust out any official reviews or analysis of his own, as a result.
The Warriors will have the opportunity to bounce back from their previous two losses on Wednesday as they take on a red-hot Utah Jazz team.
