The Golden State Warriors are resting star guard Stephen Curry for Sunday evening’s home game against the Utah Jazz.
Curry played a team-high 35 minutes Friday against the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of a back-to-back.
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr indicated pregame Friday that resting Curry would be a possibility. Curry has played 71 games in 2023-24, the most in a single season for the 36-year-old since 2016-17, when he played 79.
Additionally, the 2,320 minutes he’s played represent his largest workload since 2018-19 (2,331).
Curry is submitting another strong campaign, averaging a team-high 26.5 points in 32.7 minutes. He leads the NBA with 339 3-pointers — the fourth-most in a single season in NBA history.
Swingman Andrew Wiggins is questionable with left ankle soreness that kept him out Friday. Forward Jonathan Kuminga is questionable with bilateral knee tendinitis.
Kuminga warmed up Friday before the game.
Kuminga has missed the last six games, though the ailment isn’t considered serious. Kerr on Friday said Wiggins and Kuminga are day-to-day.
The Warriors (42-35) are four games ahead of the Houston Rockets for 10th place in the Western Conference with five games to play. The Los Angeles Lakers passed the Sacramento Kings for eighth place.
Golden State trails the Kings by two games for ninth.
