The officiating crew missed a crucial goaltending call in Wednesday night’s game between the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors, as Aaron Gordon swatted Steph Curry’s layup after it had clearly hit the glass. When asked about this play after the game, Curry simply said, “It’s definitely goaltending. They missed it. Keep playing.”
This is how Curry is, and how he has been throughout his career. Never looking to blame officials, even in cases like this where they undeniably missed a call, Curry kept it pushing after that big play. While there is no denying that missed call had a major impact on the game, Curry and the Warriors still had a chance to win, but came up just short.
Losses like these are hard to swallow, especially against a team like the Nuggets, but there were a lot of positive takeaways for the Warriors in this one. Without Draymond Green, Golden State pushed the defending champions to the very end, and had a real chance to win this game. Curry did not have his most efficient night from the floor in this one, but still did enough to put himself and his teammates in a position to win, it just did not go Golden State’s way.
The Warriors will look to regroup from this loss and bounce back in their next game.
