No one in the NBA knows how to shoot a basketball better than Steph Curry. When he gives tips for shooting a ball, it’s time to listen; right now, it’s time to listen.
Curry was a guest on the famous Hot Ones YouTube show, where he was asked about the significant intricacies of shooting a basketball, while he was heating a hot wing.
“The angle of your elbow,” Curry said. “It’s really hard if you have the chicken wing… you rarely see this one, where people come up and bring it back out. The chicken wing is deadly because it’s hard to create the same arc with it, the same power.”
The biggest tip Curry revealed is to keep your elbow as close to 90 degrees as possible. The further out you keep it, the more inconsistent your shot will be. Attached is the specific video for instruction.
“As long as your elbow is as close to 90 degrees as possible, I’m much more confident in somebody being able to repeat that,” Curry said. “That’s the one I hate to see, the deadliest sin in basketball, the chicken wing.”
The most fascinating thing about the NBA is that there are so many players with a variety of shooting forms. Tyrese Haliburton has a horrible-looking shooting form and can shoot well from three, Shawn Marion was another that could shoot despite awful-looking form. However, Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, so he’s the player fans should be listening to.
