When it was first revealed that Steph Curry and Chris Paul were going to be on the Warriors together, the first question everyone had in their minds was about the fit. According to Steph Curry, it looks like no one needs to worry about their offensive fit.
After practice, Curry was asked to give a summary about playing with Chris Paul, and Curry had nothing but glowing things to say.
“The summary is, it’s mad fun,” Curry said. “I get the rebound, I push, I can throw it ahead in transition, he’s pretty sure with the ball and makes the right decision. He’s really good at catch-and-shooting when he’s open. Moving without the basketball, we have me, him, and Klay. In certain runs this summer, he was calling out stuff he had been scouting against for years. It kinda became the joke of different looks that he knew that were coming. It’s pretty seamless really, to be honest.”
If there’s one thing that Steph Curry knows will be a challenge, it’s the defensive fit of the two players next two each other. They know that they’re both shorter players that could potentially be targeted, but that’s where basketball IQ has to come into play.
“There’s challenges in how we matchup and making sure we’re defensively sound in how we play on that end of the floor and how we play with the guys that are out there with us,” Curry said. “Offensively, really seamless because we’re just playing basketball.”
Fortunately, Steph Curry and Chris Paul are two of the smartest basketball players to ever play the game. If there were ever two players that could figure out how to make it work, it would be Steph Curry and Chris Paul.
