Every NBA fan knows that the Los Angeles Lakers take a ton of free throws, but no one knows that more than Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. That’s why Curry had to celebrate when he found out the Lakers’ free throw numbers on Saturday night.
When the Warriors faced off against the Lakers on Saturday night, LA only took three more free throws than Golden State; the Lakers shot 18 free throws, and the Warriors shot 15. It was a stat that immediately pleased Steph Curry when he saw it postgame.
“Only 18 free throws!” Steph Curry joked after the game. “Yeah!”
While Steph Curry is being cheeky with his answer, there is some truth in his joke. When the two teams faced off in January, the Lakers shot 43 free throws, as opposed to the Warriors shooting 16. Steph Curry just wants things to be consistent.
“I just feel as long as it’s consistent either way, whatever the tone of the game is, that helps everybody out there just play a good brand of basketball,” Curry said. “Less complaining, just go hoop. When it becomes one-sided or the other and you kinda feel it, that’s when things get a little whacky and you get distracted by it.”
With the way things are currently heading, one can greatly expect a Warriors vs Lakers play-in tournament game. When that happens, free throws are likely going to be the main talking point of the game, again.
