SAN FRANCISCO — Steph Curry returned from injury against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night. Curry missed the Warriors’ last two games nursing a sore left knee.
Curry was a much-needed spark for a Warriors team that entered the game with a five-game losing streak. He scored 12 points shooting 4-for-8 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, to give the Warriors a 10-point lead at halftime. His hot half inspired a strong start for Klay Thompson, who had 12 points at the half, including a pair of open 3s to close it.
Curry, 35, injured on a hard fall during the Warriors’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers last Saturday, had an MRI that revealed no structural damage to the knee.
Curry’s return can help salvage a rough skid as Draymond Green serves a five-game suspension. Curry leads the team in scoring and offensive production, averaging 30.7 points per game and shooting 44.6% from 3.
In addition to Green, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Gary Payton II were out against Oklahoma City for the second part of a two-game series against their Western Conference foe. Payton strained his left foot coming down on Chet Holmgren’s foot during a play on Thursday. An MRI revealed no structural damage, the team said, and will be re-evaluated in the coming days.
Jackson-Davis was recalled from the Santa Cruz Warriors along with Gui Santos, but is listed as out with a lower leg injury.
