The NBA world has witnessed many cinematic representations of the league over the last few years. In that lineup, FX came up with a mini-series on the LA Clippers‘ darkest period titled Clipped. This television series deals with the controversial past of the former Clippers’ owner, Donald Sterling. And it’s a domino effect of Sterling’s leaked audio tape from 2014. While the series was all about the sensitive issue that changed the league forever, fans dragged Steph Curry into the party because of a miserably failed casting.
In one of the episodes, a scene involved the Clippers playing against the Golden State Warriors. And, the makers can’t get away without showing the 4x NBA Champion on the screen. But this is where everything went wrong. The actor who was roped in to play Steph Curry didn’t resemble the Baby-faced Assassin in any way.
It was enough for the fans to go in a rampaging mood, trolling the makers of the show. One fan found the essence of the trolls in his reaction, as he wrote, “substitute teacher fr,” under an IG post.
While the trolls took over the attention, let’s not forget to shed some light on the enticing story. The Matrix trilogy fame Laurence Fishburne helmed the series with a major role, playing Doc Rivers. He portrayed the minor portion of River’s coaching career in the LA side from 2013-202o. The first two episodes of the 6-episode series went air on Hulu and it quickly grabbed the public attention.
Ahead of its release, the buzz surrounding the series went sky-high as it revisited the dysfunctional era of the Clippers franchise history. But little did the makers know that the Golden State Warriors superstar would get mixed up in the act.
Fans fume in the comments as the new Steph Curry meme drops
Many NBA stars have contributed to the meme world unknowingly during their time on camera. Basically, their entire life. However, this time around, Stephen Curry has contributed without being on camera. After the release of the first two episodes of Clipped, the fans have had a field day, making memes.
Fans in the comments had their creative juices flowing as they came up with hilarious reactions. One user wrote, “Bro ain’t the chef, he the consumer,” making a wordplay with the superstar’s nickname. Another fan went with the popular meme reference and wrote, “We got Steph Curry at home.”
While some fans made hilarious comparisons, another section of fans listed the people who looked like the actor other than Steph. One user wrote, “Lmaooo looks more like Dak Prescott.” Here is a list of players who the actor resembled: Jameer Nelson, Jared Dudley, Dell Curry, and Grant Williams.
On the other hand, some fans made use of the opportunity to remind the Dubs fans of the Klay Thompson misery from the Play-In tournament loss against the Sacramento Kings. One user wrote, “Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Klay Thompson went 0/10 in an elimination game.”
Nevertheless, fans had an entertaining time flushing out creative trolls in the comments. Let us know your favorite reaction in the comments below.
