The Golden State Warriors are set to begin the new NBA season on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Suns, and will have superstar point guard Steph Curry available. Curry is not dealing with an injury, but did miss some time in the preseason for rest; however, he is expected to be fully available for this season opener vs. Phoenix.
Curry will be facing off against his former teammate Kevin Durant, who he won two NBA championship with in 2017 and 2018. Durant and Curry were arguably the greatest duo in NBA history, and dominated the league during their time together. For Durant, this will be his first game in front of the Warriors home crowd since his departure in 2019, as injuries and pandemic restrictions have stopped this reunion from happening for nearly four years now.
For Curry and the Warriors, this is a very important season. Golden State recognizes the clock is ticking on this dynasty run, and each season brings them closer to the inevitable end. Wanting to get at least one more championship with this core before it’s too late, the Warriors see this season as one of their final chances to do so. This is the focus level the team has from Curry down to the rookies, and it should make for a very good season in The Bay.
