Stephen Curry’s father, Dell Curry, had set the legacy for the Curry family to carry forward in the NBA. However, years before the ‘baby-faced assassin’ stepped on the NBA hardwood, he was doing Burger King commercials with his father. In a recent interview with Ahmad Rashad for NBA Rewind, Stephen Curry reminisced about a 29-year-old Burger King commercial that he shot with his father back in the day. And of course, looking back at this old memory, Steph had some hilarious reactions.
Born to one of the most prominent NBA players of the erstwhile era, Dell Curry, Steph grew up with cameras around him. He was used to the fame that he is now surrounded with since his formative years, which earned him several cameos and appearances in brand commercials. Furthermore, one could always see Steph being a doting son and cheering for his father from the courtside.
Stephen Curry nominates himself for an Oscar Award for acting in a Burger King commercial
Nobody must have realized it now but back in 1994, Stephen Curry was quite an emerging child actor. Thanks to his father’s NBA stardom, Steph earned himself a cameo appearance in a Burger King commercial back in the day.
Now, 29 years later, the four-time NBA champion looks back at this moment and reacts hilariously with American sportscaster, Ahmad Rashad. Commending his own acting prowess, Steph said,
“I don’t know why I didn’t get the Oscar for that. That’s crazy. Nobody could have done that role other than me, nobody.”
Well, it’s not too late for Stephen Curry to try out his acting prowess in movies. His rival and NBA counterpart, LeBron James also tried his hands in acting with Space Jam 2. If Steph ever were to seriously consider appearing in acting roles for films, it would place him in an elite group of athletes to do so like LBJ and Michael Jordan.
Canon Curry is getting a similar spotlight with his father’s fame in the NBA
Canon Curry has already become a media staple, just like his father did, back in the 1990s. The youngest member of the Curry household has several scenes to himself in the documentary ‘Underrated,’ which shows Steph Curry’s emergence from a rookie to a four-time NBA champion.
In the documentary, a segment showed Steph working on his laptop while his daughter completed her homework. But Cannon, despite his constant shenanigans, knew it was time for some fun. Trying to bring in some fun to the quiet atmosphere, Canon started jumping on a bubble wrap, mischievously disrupting both his father’s and sister’s work.
Albeit of such shenanigans, Canon is considered a sweetheart among Steph’s NBA circles, with many fans speculating he has been hanging out way more often with Draymond Green than his two-time MVP dad!
