The offseason has maintained the hype that usually fades away after the Finals. Rather, it’s adding up to the postseason noise. It started with young and talented athletes waiting for the NBA Draft to the league’s heavyweights entering trade deals and free agency; the NBA remains the talk of the town. The biggest news right now is Charlotte Hornets‘ sale. The trade deals being completed right now might end up taking the top spot.
As we close in on the trades this season, there’s a lot more expected to come. Leading the loop is the change Golden State Warriors will witness, as LeBron James‘ “good friends” is pushing for a move. To top it all, Stephen Curry‘s teammates declined a massive $27 million option to switch teams.
LeBron James’ good friend could end up at the Warriors
The Warriors were a pretty solid team this year. They’ve been putting up decent performances year after year. The 2022 NBA champions were not looking for a rebuild initially, however, with an undesirable end to their race this year, they’re now looking out for a makeover.
With big decisions in the loop for them, the Warriors face their first big problem. Their 33-year-old power forward declined his $27 million player option and is now available as a free agent. Despite being an integral member of the team, Draymond Green wants a new challenge in his career.
Warriors Surprised Paul
Amidst the saga slowly unfolding, the Warriors hold a solid chance of bringing in one of the best point guards of all time – Chris Paul. Paul’s available after cutting ties with the Phoenix Suns. In fact, Washington Wizards added Paul in the trade on Sunday, without his knowledge. The 12x NBA All-Star found out about the trade while he was on a plane. Paul was “surprised” by the sudden turn of events. Regardless, the 2013 All-Star MVP could be sent to a third term by the Wizards.
The Warriors are among the options that stand the tallest.
As per Shams Charania, “The Wizards are gonna try to see if they can flip [Chris Paul] to a 3rd team… The Clippers, the Warriors – Those are 2 teams that did discuss potential deals with the Suns prior to this trade going down.” Paul, who LeBron deemed as one of the few three friends that he has in the league, might end up at the Stephen Curry camp.
