Michael Jordan was a fearless operator on the court but His Airness does have one major phobia, as per his son.
Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, having won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
He was the driving force behind two three-peats, achieved either side of a shock switch to baseball.
With his winning mentality, through the roof Jordan was never fazed by any opponent he came up against.
But it turns out that there is something which instilled fear into the 61-year-old.
According to Jordan’s son Marcus, he is scared of snakes and there was one time where he and his brother played a cruel prank on him.
Speaking on his ‘Separation Anxiety’ podcast with former girlfriend Larsa Pippen, he said: “He is terrified of snakes. My dad is terrified of snakes. Yeah, literally.
“There is this one time me and my brother – we must have been about 12 and 14 – and we had got a bunch of rubber snakes and threw them in my dad’s room, on top of the bed.
“I will never forget when he got home – we were grounded. I think he was caught off guard and he realized they weren’t real after a while.
“He was running round the house trying to find out who pranked him. At first he thought they were real. At first he was like ‘what the’ and then he realized it was a prank.”
Jordan also developed an “irrational” fear of water after a series of traumatic events, including witnessing his “very good friend” drown.
He said he would “stay away” from water in his autobiography ‘For the Love of the Game: My Story’ and stick to big boats.
Jordan has done just that though as he owns multiple superyachts, including one called Joy worth $80 million.
He was recently enjoying time on another vessel, ‘Catch 23’, as part of a fishing tournament.
