Michael Jordan is still King Midas who turns everything he touches (or wears) into gold. Despite being retired for more than 20 years, any garment he wore throughout his outstanding career reached great figures in auctions. But this last one is a record.
The Michael Jordan Dynasty collection was sold at a whopping $8 Million
The “Dynasty Collection” is a complete set of shoes that Jordan wore during the games he won some of his six rings and six titles as MVP of the Finals. The lot reached the figure of 8,032,800 dollars, a record in terms of auctioned shoes according to Sotheby`s auction house.
In fact, “The Dynasty Collection” is second only to the jersey he wore in the first game of the 1998 Finals in terms of value acquired at auction: $10.1 million. A pair of sneakers he wore in the second game of the 1998 Finals fetched $2.2 million, the most ever paid for a pair of sneakers.
The lot included the Air Jordan VI (1991), Air Jordan VII (1992), Air Jordan VIII (1993), Air Jordan XI (1996), Air Jordan XII (1997) and Air Jordan XIV (1998). One of the facts why the collection sold for the whopping $8 million, was because The Air Jordan VI, VIII, XI, and XII are autographed by Jordan himself.
