The chef at Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse talked about the $110 “Eat Like Mike” menu

Aside from Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse offering an exquisite set of dishes on the menu, it allows guests to dine a la “His Airness” for $110. In an interview with Forbes in 2018, the executive chef Craig Couper detailed everything that goes into the NBA legend’s signature menu.

“If you want to eat like Mike, you’ll start with three of our signature appetizers: maple-glazed, Nueske’s double smoked bacon; a colossal crab cake with Meyer lemon aioli; and garlic bread topped with Wisconsin Roth Kase blue cheese fondue,” Couper revealed. “You’ll then move to the next course: a choice of lobster bisque or a Caesar salad with olive oil croutons. Mike loves the Caesar salad. Every time he comes in, he gets a Caesar.”

“A duo of filets to be shared by two with a one-pound lobster tail,” he continued. “MJ eats a USDA Prime, 16-ounce, bone-in filet with ginger-balsamic vinegar jus, dry-aged for 45 days. It’s a big steak. He orders it medium.”

MJ makes you eat dessert
Couper added that Jordan enjoys feasting on his steak with a bunch of side dishes, specifically “mashed potatoes with French onion, king crab and sweet potato, mac-and-cheese, and sautéed spinach.”

According to the chef, MJ’s “23-layer chocolate cake” dessert is also a tribute to his legendary NBA career. Craig added that the tall cake is always a scene-stealer whenever served inside the establishment.

However, Couper pointed out that he has never seen the Chicago Bulls icon eat the impressive cake, “but if you’re with him, he makes you order it.”

Nobody interrupts MJ’s mealtime
Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse has branches in different states, but the six-time NBA champion ensures that he pays the establishment in Chicago a visit whenever he’s in town.

“He’ll definitely always interact with people — but after he’s done with his meal,” Couper divulged. “So usually there will be someone who will help guide people so they don’t approach his table.”

“Michael’s privacy is really dear to him, and we’ll usually position him in a place where people can still see him, but they can’t walk up and bother his dining experience. He just wants to come in and enjoy a meal with his family and his friends,” the chef added.

Jordan’s penchant for eating steaks stemmed from his fascination with growing muscles during his early years in the NBA. His trusted personal trainer, Tim Grover, then added steak to MJ’s pregame meals, and they were both satisfied with the results.

Little did everybody know, Jordan would take his love for steaks to another level and later open up his own steakhouse that allows people to eat like the GOAT.
