Mexico bid farewell to one of its most lovable entrepreneurs, Carlos Bremer, who passed away on January 5 due to pre-infarction. The 63-year-old also starred as one of the sharks in the famous entrepreneurial show ‘Shark Tank’. In a laundry list of connections, Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan was one of the various sports superstars Bremer knew. And, their friendship story is a formed on the common love of sport.
Jordan’s influence at one point was unmatched. The impact he created with basketball opened him up to several parts of the world. However, his connection with Bremer did not start on the court. Rather, it was golf. Just like the 6-time champion, Bremer had contacts across the globe too. The late Mexican had visited the States several years ago for health reasons. Golf was something he was passionate about and so, he decided to take part in a famous tournament, where Jordan also featured as one of the participants.
As per reports, this is where the two met, and golf was the reason for their bonding. An unearthed picture of a young Bremer with Jordan at a golf course has taken over the internet recently.

Bremer had an immense love for sports. His patriotic nature pushed him to promote fellow Mexicans in the sporting world and one of them was boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, who deeply regretted his demise. Canelo shared on his Instagram, “Thank you for your support and your teachings, I will remember you with fondness and admiration. Safe journey my dear friend.” Bremer used his company to sponsor and promote most of Canelo’s fights.
His impact in the business world even helped him to form a close bond with Mexican President Andrés Obrador, who termed Bremer as a “good man” on his demise. You will be surprised to know that Bremer also actively promoted basketball back in Mexico. He invested in the National Professional Basketball League, which was an initiative by the Mexican Olympic Committee to promote their athletes. He shared the reason behind his investment, “We have always supported sports no matter what”.
While stories about Bremer have passed around due to his devastating demise, his bond with Michael Jordan and other sportspersons bring to light a person of multitudes, and one who enjoyed the ebbs and flows that come with being a sports fan.
