Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of the most well-known and loved actors in all of Hollywood.
He has certainly nurtured a reputation as one of the most hard-working stars on the planet, with his resume pretty impressive.
From the Fast and Furious franchise to Jumanji, his film record is pretty varied as well.
Johnson’s next project, Red One, is set to release in November 2024 – but it appears all is not well.
An official synopsis for the film reads: “When a villain kidnaps Santa Claus from the North Pole, an E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) operative joins forces with the world’s most accomplished tracker to find him and save Christmas.”
Originally slated for release during the 2023 Christmas season, the film maker’s put down the delay to last year’s labor strikes.
But the real story is a lot messier, according to The Wrap.
Insiders have told the outlet that Johnson showed up as much as eight hours late to set on the movie, essentially forcing the crew to shoot around him.
This allegedly led to the actor causing $50 million of costs.
However, in a statement provided to The Wrap, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM has denied there has been any problems with Red One or any delays caused by Johnson’s lateness.
“Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on Red One – a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season,” the spokesperson said.
“Our testing has been very strong – the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself – and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support.
“Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”
UNILAD has contacted a representative for Dwayne Johnson for a comment.
In other The Rock news, John Cena recently shared an insight into Johnson and Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious feud.
According to various reports and online speculation, the co-stars Diesel and Johnson have been ‘feuding’ since around 2016.
Cena admitted there are ‘certainly rumors’ about Johnson and Diesel not always seeing eye-to-eye, which he noted he ‘can’t deny’.
He continued: “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one.”
Whether there is a feud or not, fans will be hoping the pair can patch things up fairly soon.
