Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson casts a line and hums a classic country tune
Actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spent a peaceful Sunday afternoon with a fishing rod by the pond on his property in Virginia. As he casts his line into the water, he casually sings “That’s The Way Love Goes” by Merle Haggard.
“That’s The Way Love Goes” was made famous by Merle Haggard in 1983 when he released it on his album of the same name. The song was originally written by Lefty Frizzell and Sanger D. Shafer and released by Johnny Rodriguez in 1973. Connie Smith also released her own version in 1974 before Haggard took the song to the top of the US Hot Country Songs charts nearly a decade later.

“The Rock” shows off his latest catch
As Johnson sings the chorus to the classic country tune, his line catches, and he realizes he has a bite. The fish puts up quite a fight, and Johnson jokes, “That’s the way love goes…” referring to his “fiery” catch. He pulls in a beautiful bass and remarks that she was “worth it.”

He estimates that the fish weighs around four to five pounds but admits:
“I don’t know, maybe eight. My math is off… every time I catch a fish, my math is off.”
Dwayne Johnson reflects on how much his land means to him
One day prior, the 52-year-old shared a video of him driving a UTV around his lush Virginia property set to the tune of “My Beautiful America” by The Charlie Daniels Band. The setting is serene, and he writes:
“Good to be home, this land is sacred to me. We’re all runnin’ and gunnin’ 100mph down life’s road. And eventually, we all need to unplug to mentally & spiritually recalibrate and recharge. Not a soul in sight. No one pushing and pulling at ya. I’ll sit up here for hours and just stare at God’s country.”
