After much uproar and criticism, 81-year-old current President of the United States, Joe Biden has finally stepped down from the upcoming presidential race. With elections in November, Biden has also endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the next Democratic nominee. Yet, it remains unclear who will take Biden’s place in the race next.
Seeing the ‘circus’ the American Democracy has been lately, there have been renewed calls for Hollywood star and WWE champion, Dwayne Johnson to take Biden’s place. A popular fan choice, Johnson has more than once expressed his interest in politics and even endorsed Biden in the 2020 presidential elections.
As Joe Biden Steps Down, Dwayne Johnson for the President?
After months of calls for him to step down, seeing his dwindling health, Joe Biden has finally stepped down from the presidential race against Donald Trump. Having endorsed his VP Kamala Harris as the next Democratic nominee, yet nothing official has been announced by the party about who will be replacing Biden.
Amid such confusion and scramble, the public has renewed calls for Hollywood giant Dwayne Johnson to register his nominee. Back in 2023, during an appearance on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast, the actor had revealed he was approached by several parties after a poll revealed that 46% of voters would support him.
My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.
He had stated back then, yet he did support Biden during his presidential run in 2020, and in 2016 he had described the opportunity as alluring to GQ. And in 2017 he stated to Variety that a presidential run in 2024 is a very realistic consideration.
Yet, the actor’s views have changed since then. Having told CBS News that such a feat is off the table, he then told Fox News this year that a presidential run is not on the table right now.
People Want Dwayne Johnson to Be the Next US President
As Joe Biden steps down, there is undeniably a scramble within the Democratic party right now to have their next Presidential candidate ready. Despite Biden endorsing Kamala Harris as the next nominee and the current VP releasing a statement that she would fight for the Democratic presidential nominee after Biden (via X), she has not been declared as the official nominee as of yet.
And so, there have been calls from fans and the public in support of Dwayne Johnson.

While there has been some opposition from others regarding the Rock’s potential presidential run, the calls for him to be the next US president are significantly more. Yet, the actor is still to address the issue and has remained mum till now.
Why Did Joe Biden Step Down from the Presidential Race?
Joe Biden has enjoyed a vast political career and influence since he first stepped into the world of politics back in 1972. A senator for 36 years and a vice president for 8, his journey has been filled with considerable setbacks, victories, and triumphs. However, the last few years have been tough on him (see The Guardian).
The current US President has been plagued by questions regarding his health, both mental and physical, given the many slips of tongue and gaffes he has been making lately. While this amplified calls for him to step down, the assassination attempt on fellow presidential candidate, Donald Trump only made the situation worse for Biden.
On one side is a Presidential candidate struggling to keep himself from making verbal slips or falling down. On the other side is Trump, who bravely survived a threat to his life. And so as the calls for Biden to step down grew, the current President has finally listened and acted upon them (see Time).
The first time for a sitting President to pull off such a feat, Biden expressed in his statement, that despite re-election he wishes to listen to the calls of his fellow party members. Expressing his deep support and appreciation, his stepping down has ushered in a new era for the United States.
And only time will tell whether it is Donald Trump who will be re-elected or somebody else.
