The Golden State Warriors are all set to return to action. The Bay area went through tough times after the tragic demise of their assistant coach, Dejan Milojević. Following his loss, the management postponed two of the scheduled games as a mark of respect to coach Deki and for the players to mourn the loss. Yesterday, the Dubs were back on the court, getting into the groove for their Tuesday night clash against the Atlanta Hawks.
Ahead of the game, Stephen Curry addressed the press and spoke about the tribute ceremony organized by Milojević’s former teams back in Serbia. The Warriors team took a closer look at the event, hours before the Dubs’ pre-game tribute for the coach. Reflecting on the tribute video, Steph said, “What they did in Serbia yesterday with a game that took place over there with his two former teams… I can’t imagine what it been like being in the building.”
He further stated that the Dubs would take inspiration from it to honor and celebrate him. Moreover, he spoke about the challenge set in front of him, ahead of the Hawks game. He added, “The challenge of trying to take your mind there… talk about him, think about him… turn the page and play basketball… I hope we just get lost in the game and have fun.”
This hasn’t been the perfect season for the Dubs, like it used to be in the past. The team slipped down to 12th seed after a series of disappointing performances, leaving the playoffs hopes in thin air. Right when the fans thought that the things can’t get any worse, the tragic demise left the Dub Nation in glumness.
However, Steph’s recent words may bring some hope in the hearts of fans, as superstar expressed his wish to go out on the court and enjoy the game.
