After defying the odds and winning a title in the 2021-22 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors headed into last season with high hopes of defending their title and pulling off the repeat, further cementing the legacy of the Stephen Curry era in the Bay Area.
Unfortunately, Golden State came up short in the NBA playoffs against a determined and resilient Los Angeles Lakers squad that was revamped before the NBA trade deadline and became a freight train in the postseason on their way to the Western Conference Finals.
Despite losing to the Lakers in the second round of the playoffs, the Warriors kept their core intact this summer while adding another important veteran piece to the championship puzzle.
Golden State re-signed Draymond Green and traded Jordan Poole for future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul, a move no one saw coming which could drastically help or hurt their quest for another title in San Francisco.
With a veteran squad moving forward and Poole sent to the Washington Wizards, the Warriors are hoping to move past last season and take it to another level next season, according to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, via 95.7 The Game.
On paper, the Warriors are as intimidating as any team in the league, even as much as the revamped Phoenix Suns and defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, as they have the experience to trump any other squad in that category.
However, Golden State has a seasoned roster with a few players, namely Klay Thompson and Paul, battling costly injuries over the last few years.
If the Warriors can’t stay healthy next season, it could be more of the same for Curry and company, but if they do and catch their stride, Golden State will be a threat to win it all once again.
