There was a ton of speculation last season as to if the Warriors’ big three of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green would be breaking up soon. Now, it looks like all of those concerns should be put to rest.
Warriors owner Joe Lacob spoke with Madeline Kenny of the Bay Area New Group where he discussed the future plans of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
“Certainly, we’d like Steph, Draymond and Klay to retire as Warriors,” Lacob said. “That is my goal, our goal, and I think it’s a good likelihood that’ll happen”
All season, there were glimpses of a legitimate future where it seemed like Draymond Green would no longer be a member of the Golden State Warriors. Instead, in a shocking move, the Warriors traded away Jordan Poole instead of losing Draymond Green. It was a real “us or him” moment between the veterans of the Warriors and the youth of the team. Ultimately, whichever side has Steph Curry will always win the momentum when it comes to the Warriors franchise – something that Jordan Poole unfortunately experienced.
If the Warriors can figure out a way to retire Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond on the team it’ll be a fantastic story for the franchise. Very seldom do players retire on the team they were drafted on, but it seems like that will be the case for the Warriors.
