Dwayne Johnson is currently busy with his numerous Hollywood projects. Nevertheless, fans have a favorite they are looking forward to among all these films. This happens to be ‘The Smashing Machine’ being co-produced by A24 Films. WWE, MMA, and film fans have flocked together in excitement as the project has slowly come to life. The team behind the film has slowly but steadily started to unveil the details behind the project, keeping fans hyped.
Recently, The People’s Champion shared the news that Deadline first broke. In the post, we can see yet another cast member revealed. The out-of-field casting has piqued fans’ interest because the team hired boxing world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
What will Dwayne Johnson have Oleksandr Usyk do in his upcoming movie?
Oleksandr Usyk has signed on for his Hollywood debut to play one of Mark Kerr‘s formidable foes in the ring. The Smashing Machine will not only feature moments from Mark Kerr’s personal life but also include scenes from his bouts, including his fight with Igor Vovchanchyn. The two faced each other in Pride 7 and Pride 12, with the fights resulting in discontinuation and Igor’s victory, respectively. Oleksandr Usyk, who is an undefeated pro boxer from Ukraine, will be playing the role of the Ukrainian legend Vovchanchyn. Before claiming that he is looking forward to working with the boxer, The Final Boss wrote in the caption, “I have huge respect for Oleksandr Usyk and will be my honor to share the ring with him – as he knocks my jaw into next week 😉💀🥊.”
Dwayne Johnson seems excited about working with the professional boxer in the ring. This is one of the few details about the movie that has surfaced after DJ’s first look as Mark Kerr. Nevertheless, the Brahma Bull has underwent some intense training sessions to accurately and faithfully adapt the role.
Dwayne Johnson is not skipping the training
A few weeks ago, the former WWE Champion uploaded a video of him training in MMA in his newly set up training camp for ‘The Smashing Machine’. He was seen sporting a baggy t-shirt for his torso and his wrestling shorts on the bottom. This caused several fans to ridicule him for his training outfit. However, things weren’t all bad for him.
The post also reached King Haku as he quickly commented in favor of his nephew. The wrestling legend wrote a message for Dwayne Johnson to show him that he is supportive of his upcoming project and the training that he is putting in for the same. It’s clear that Johnson and the film’s production has gone all out to deliver a thrilling final product.
