Luka Doncic recently put up a career-high, franchise record 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks. The 24-year-old now shares the fourth position on the all-time list with the great Wilt Chamberlain and David Thompson. The only two people ahead of Doncic now are Chamberlain with 100 points and Kobe Bryant with 81.
The Dallas Mavericks star performed this miracle in style. He was seen wearing the Men’s Jordan Luka 2 which is one of his most popular sneakers with the brand. The Jordan Luka 2s are priced at $130 a pair.
Since Doncic’s second signature sneaker was formally introduced by Jordan Brand in June of last year, they have only upped the game by releasing more colorways. Doncic donned an unreleased colorway of the Jordan Luka 2 last night, with a Light Volt upper contrasted with fuchsia details. The Jordan Luka 2 was made for players with finesse like Doncic. The stacked Formula 23 foam midsole of the performance basketball shoe provides firm yet flexible cushioning for increased mobility.
Michael Jordan is a Luka Doncic fan
A relationship like that where the Jordan brand and the Mavs star collaborate so frequently, bringing in some of the finest crafted sneakers, has to be based on mutual respect and admiration. While it is a no-brainer that Doncic is a Michael Jordan fan, like most people who follow the sport, the admiration flows both ways. Even the 6x NBA champion is a huge fan of the Slovenian star and is impressed by the things Doncic is able to do at such a young age.
After Doncic’s deal with Jordan was announced, the Chicago Bulls legend told Bleacher Report, “Luka is a phenomenal player, and at such a young age. He’s demonstrating skill it takes many guys years to develop. It will be incredible to watch him continue to advance in the league.” Doncic, on the other hand, was sweating when he first met Jordan. He said, “I met him at my first All-Star. I think he was doing some celebration of something, I don’t know, but I was nervous. I didn’t know what to say.”
Despite being so nervous around his idol, Doncic was able to extend the basic courtesy to Jordan. He said, “Yeah, I was just saying hi… then how are you, I think something like that.” From being too nervous to get a sentence out, to breaking records in the league wearing the signature Jordan shoes, Doncic has come a long way.
