Sneaker drops being festival-like events for those deeply rooted in the culture, in just over a month the celebrations are about to double up as two major sneakers are going live. The Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker‘s Nike Book 1 “Mirage” is about to go on sale this February and the first looks have created quite a buzz.
However, Booker could have his moment eclipsed by the man who might be credited for revolutionizing the sneakers industry. Michael Jordan‘s Jordan 4 “Bred” reimagined is also about to hit the stores at the same time.
Now, there’s hardly any competition when it comes to Jordans. They have massive worldwide popularity and almost a cult-like reputation. Booker’s shoes will be released in a Light Orewood Brown/Sesame-Baroque Brown-Sail colorway. The price for the same is fixed for the drop at $150 and there is a massive buzz around it on social media and sneakerheads.
MJ’s Jordan 4 “Bred” reimagined on the other hand is going to be available in the original colorway. The shoes were first released back in 1989 and since then, it has had the market in a chokehold because everyone wants to get their hands on them. Now with the reimagined version, the makers have tried to keep the essence of the original alive while offering a fresh take on the legendary silhouette. The price for the Jordan 4 “Bred” reimagined is fixed at $215. Both the shoes will go live on February 17th.
Devin Booker on the Nike Book 1 collection
The Suns star recently talked about the vision behind the new collection and what he wishes to achieve with the upcoming drop. He said, “Early on, we landed on the phrase ‘future classic’. At the beginning of the design process, we landed on the idea of the shoe combining lifestyle and performance worlds. The goal was to create something that would be timeless.”
Booker said that working with his favorite brand toward a common goal has been one of the most enriching experiences of his life. The Suns star said that he has been extremely pleased by the response that the first visuals have got from the fans. He said, “Just seeing everything come to life, you know, this is all new to the world, but you know, it’s been two years of preparation and thinking and collaborating. You know with, my favorite brand of all time. It’s been a pleasure being a part of it…Just every kid’s dream, especially with the brand Nike.”
